GENERAL TERMS

1. Definitions

1.1 EICR – Electrical Installation Condition Report.

1.2 Engineer – The electrician or assessor who carries out the inspection and signs the report.
1.3 Subcontractor – An independent, qualified engineer engaged to perform services.
1.4 Services – Electrical inspections, EICRs, testing, reports, remedial works, re-tests, and related compliance services.
1.5 Report / Certificate – Any EICR, electrical report, findings, recommendations, or certification issued following inspection.

2. Nature of Our Service & Contractual

2.1 JTR Electrics acts as a booking, coordination, and administrative service provider for electrical inspection services.

2.2 All inspections, testing, reports, findings, and certification are carried out and signed by the attending engineer or subcontractor.
2.3 While bookings, quotations, invoicing, and payments are administered by JTR Electrics, all technical inspection work and professional judgement rests solely with the engineer who signs the report.
2.4 Engineers and subcontractors operate as independent professionals and are responsible for their own workmanship, decisions, and compliance.
2.5 JTR Electrics does not supervise, direct, amend, override, or influence the technical findings or professional judgement of any engineer.

3. Scope of Services

3.1 Services include EICRs, electrical testing, reporting, remedial works (if agreed), and re-inspections.

3.2 Services are limited strictly to the scope agreed at the time of booking.
3.3 An EICR represents a professional opinion at the time of inspection only and is not a guarantee of safety or future performance.
3.4 No dismantling or intrusive testing is included unless agreed in writing.

4. Booking & Appointments

4.1 A booking is confirmed only once written confirmation is issued.

4.2 Appointment times are provided as arrival windows, not fixed times.
4.3 You must provide accurate property details, access instructions, parking information, and contact details.
4.4 Incorrect or incomplete information may result in additional charges or an aborted visit.
4.5 We reserve the right to refuse or stop work where access is restricted or conditions are unsafe.

5. Access & Site Conditions

5.1 Full access must be available during the appointment window.

5.2 A missed appointment or failed access fee of £110 + VAT applies where access cannot be gained.
5.3 Engineers are not required to move furniture or belongings.
5.4 You must ensure a safe working environment.
5.5 Parking and access arrangements are the customer’s responsibility.

PAYMENT TERMS

6 Payments

6.1 Invoices are issued following completion of the service.

6.2 Payment is due within 3 calendar days unless agreed otherwise.
6.3 Late payments may incur interest, administration fees, and recovery costs.
6.4 Reports and certificates may be withheld until full payment is received.
6.5 All reports remain the property of JTR Electrics until payment is cleared.

7. Cancellations & Abortive Visits

7.1 Cancellations within 24 hours incur a £110 + VAT fee.

7.2 The same fee applies where access is not provided or details are incorrect.
7.3 Cancellations must be provided in writing.

8. Inspection Process & Limitations

8.1 Inspections are carried out in accordance with BS 7671 Wiring Regulations.

8.2 EICRs are visual and non-destructive inspections.
8.3 Concealed or inaccessible areas cannot be inspected.
8.4 Hidden or future defects are outside the scope.
8.5 Power may be temporarily isolated during testing.

9. EICR Finding & Professional

9.1 Defect codes are assigned solely by the signing engineer.

9.2 Coding decisions are not negotiable.
9.3 JTR Electrics does not amend or influence report content.
9.4 Technical queries must be directed to the signing engineer.

10. Failed EICR & Remedial Works

10.1 Remedial works will be quoted separately.

10.2 You are not obligated to use JTR Electrics for remedial works.
10.3 A satisfactory report requires all issues to be rectified and re-tested.
10.4 Re-inspections may be chargeable.
10.5 Responsibility lies with the contractor carrying out the work.

11. Third-Party Reports & Disputes

11.1 No liability is accepted unless we are given the opportunity to re-inspect.

11.2 Acceptance of third-party findings is at our discretion.

12. Reliance on Client Information

12.1 We rely on information provided by the client.

12.2 We are not responsible for inaccuracies or omissions.

LEGAL TERMS

13. Subcontractors & Insurance

13.1 Subcontractors are independent professionals.

13.2 They must hold appropriate insurance.

13.3 Claims must be directed to the engineer who signed the report.

14. Fire, Injury & Damage Exclusion

14.1 An EICR is not a safety guarantee.

14.2 We are not liable for damage arising from defects or reliance on reports.
14.3 Reports reflect the condition at the time of inspection only.

15.Limitation of Liabily

15.1 We are not liable for indirect losses or pre-existing defects.

15.2 Liability is limited to the amount paid for the service.
15.3 Nothing excludes rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

16. Warranty

16.1 Remedial works include a 12-month workmanship warranty unless stated otherwise.
16.2 The warranty excludes third-party work and external damage.
 
 
 

17. Force Majeure

17.1 We are not liable for delays caused by events beyond our control.

18. Data Protection

18.1 Personal data is processed in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

19. Governing Law

19.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales.

20. General

20.1 Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights.
